Dry Eyes

I am writing about the Dry Eye Syndrome (DES). It is easy for qualified persons in your profession to dismiss my complaint with 'this happens after LASIK to 80% of the people, so put this and that gel in the eye and you will be fine. NEXT.' But no one explains why or how this happens.

I have been observing my eye problem in detail, and while I may have a mild case of DES, I feel I have the Post Lasik Eyelid Wrinkle (PLEW). (This is a new acronym) TheDES varies with tiredness, diet, heat, dust, etc., but the PLEW is a constant problem, occurring every morning on waking.

I have a theory on the PLEW and would like your opinion on it.

Facts:

   1. Almost all people suffer from PLEW after LASIK
   2. Almost all LASIK people had vision worse than -3.00
   3. Most people with vision better than -3.00 avoided LASIK
   4. Most people who went through LASIK has been wearing corrective lenses for over 20 years.
   5. The eyelid adapts itself to the curvature of the cornea
   6. The LASIK process reduces the bulge of the cornea i.e. the cornea becomes a little flatter.

If above facts are, in fact, facts, then it is reasonable to deduce that when the cornea becomes flatter, the eyelid, develops some slack. i.e. The eyelid, which has been covering the cornea in the same way for 30 years, is now covering a flatter cornea, thus there is a 'gap' between the lid and the cornea.

As the lid tries to sit on the cornea, the inner surface of the lid develops a 'wrinkle'. When this 'wrinkle' remains in a static position for a longish period (during the night), it becomes stiff. Thus making it difficult to open the eyes in the morning.

PLEASE FIND ME A SOLUTION
